I had this sketch in my WIP and I thought I'd try something different.
The dragon on the throne is a nod to the original myth. Her great, great grandfather was one of the Spartoi named Echion. The Spartoi were armed men who sprang from the ground after Cadmus (the founder and first king of Thebes) planted the teeth of a dragon he had just slain, into the ground. There's more to it than that, but this is lecture enough.

I always wondered why we never know so much about Meg's past in the film. If only the writers had given out a hint or a clue that Meg was a princess, I'd buy it.
