I told myself I was not interested in seeing Frozen, and then I listened to "Let It Go" (not Demi's bleh version, Idina's one - the good one) ... and listened to it and listened to it, then memorized it and learned to play it on the piano. I needed to see it for my neighbors' sake; I'm pretty sure they were getting sick of me belting it out at the top of my lungs. I didn't care for Tangled (sue me), so my expectations were already low.

The main characters were endearing; Disney sure knows how to crank out tragic figures. Olaf the snowman was unnecessary and the trolls were ... annoying. I do look forward to the DVD so I can fast forward through the parts that I didn't like as much. The story felt somewhat half-assed; a lot of things were left unexplained and some story lines could have been fleshed out. Oh, and two words: more Elsa. It felt like the snow queen was barely in the movie.

Speaking of Elsa, I know the comparison of her to Elphaba is all over the place and although I tend to agree, I think they are more dissimilar after having seen the movie. That being said, I couldn't help but notice how much the Arendelle guards looked like the Gale Force in Wicked.

The "twist" wasn't a twist for me because I had read the plot synopsis before going into the theatre, but judging by the audible gasps I suppose it would have been a good one.

Overall, it was a good addition to the Disney pantheon. It definitely was not the best animated movie since The Lion King, then again, I've never cared for The Lion King.  It was palatable and seemed to be aimed toward younger kids, like, little kids. I'm still trying to fully process how I feel about it as a whole.

With the success of this and Tangled, I can't help but wonder what the next movie with a single adjective as the title will be. My bet is on "Golden" the story of Rumpelstiltskin ... but I digress.

One thing is for certain, if I lived in a place that had potential for snow, I would be out there spinning around singing, pretending to possess the abilities of controlling ice and snow.

Good movie, go see it. Happy belated Thanksgiving, Happy early Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

Side note: my God, it's been a year since I've uploaded last. I need to get something uploaded.
